YAY I CAN POST!!!
Ladies & Gentlemen...oh wait...just gentlemen..KaTeLyN aNnAbLe can now post on the three blind mice blog!!
yee ugh!!
=D I'll write what I wrote in my own personal blog today =)
If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs. Deuteronomy 15:7-8
Just read it again, think about it. Think about what we, today, as Christians do, and how we react when we see a brother (sister) in need. Not many of us jump to the chance of helping our Christian siblings do we? Eh, not really. I know I could do it more! Lets look at the words the author uses to describe how we act to a troubled brother; hardhearted and tightfisted. Thats kinna harsh huh? I've heard the word hardheaded used plenty around my family and friends but..heardhearted? We're gonna harden not just our minds but our hearts to someone in need? The definition of hardhearted in the dictionary is just this, "unfeeling; unmerciful; pitiless." I don't think I would want anyone to know me as a person who is "unfeeling; unmerciful; and pitiless" to anyone! No matter who they are! And tightfisted. The other word used in the passage. That makes it sound like you're gonna punch somebody! But lets look at the definition; "parsimonious; stingy; tight." Parsimony is like another word for stingy. So as Christians, we treat our Christian brothers and sisters in need by having an 'unfeeling, unmerciful, pitiless, stingy and tight' attitude toward them. Even if we don't all do that...we should try and make an effort to do just the opposite. So that we don't have that reputation =D Just think about it, every time a brother/sister tells you they need help or somethin in life is going wrong, help em! Jump to the chance! Knowing that you are doing what God wants us all to do, knowing that you will be glorifying God by helping a Christian sibling in need! We are making God smile, our friend smile, and ourselves. (I guarnantee you will be happy after helping someone else ;]) So think about it, pray about it, maybe God is revealing the fact that you need to help someone out =) Toodles!Katelyn Marie

I really like that Josh. It makes so much sense too! We have talked about something similar to this quite a few times, people are the most important thing in our lives. God made us relational beings and if we don't have people..life just kinda stinks all over. I know personally, when I feel hurt by one person close to me, I feel that from everyone close to me. I feel unloved and uncared about! People make the biggest impact on our lives and while we leave fingerprints in others lives, they leave fingerprints in ours! Like if we have a really good friend who was with us for a while and then God took them away for some reason, it's hard not to think about how sad you are that they're gone. But I think all we should really think about is the awesome things that they taught us, and how we grew in them. And we need to watch how we care about people, we need to make sure we never treat others less than us or anything like that cause it leaves a mark. After all, other than loving God, the greatest commandement is to love others! So why shouldn't we? =D
HAHA. Happy Fingerprints!! *Gay face* wow. Um...i dunno, ask him =)
I really like that though. When you first said something about fingerprints I just assumed happy ones, but you're so right. We can really screw someone up or make them really sad. And the same can happen to us, someone could come into our lives and leave really unhappy fingerprints! I also really like the verses you put up. Philippians 2:1-4 is really awesome. I like the whole "united in spirit, intent on one purpose.." part. That 'purpose' that we should be 'united' on, is obviously spreading Gods love! Thats so sunday school-ish but it's so true. Telling someone about Gods love and using all those things that were mentioned in verse one to tell them is exactly the purpose we should have in life. (we would be leaving really happy fingerprints in someones life!!) and my other favorite part is in the beginning of verse 2 he says "make my joy complete"...I love that!! By spreading Gods love we are completeing His joy!! The wonderful creator of the universes joy is complete because of something we did!! tehe =D
Joshua Martin Rairden, you tell it like it is!! I loved that!
I feel like a lot of times in our faith we think the church solution of spreading Gods love will gain us Gods favor but one: we can't do anything to attain Gods favor (like we've talked about before) and two: you can't just tell someone, "hey God loves you & forgives all your sins! Follow Him and life will be good!" Because a lot of people don't want to listen to what Christians have to say because they see us as hypocritical because we don't always practice what we preach. I think it's much more important to show Gods love, like you said, through loving the non-Christians and accepting them and still keeping your own morals and standards and showing them the absolute power of His awesome love by what you do! Like, what if you were deaf (coffee house night at desert mountain Joshua) and all you could do was act godly around others to show Gods love?!? Just an example lol. =) my verse for you today is this:
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
Matthew 7:24-27
im not gonna say anything, tell me what you think =D
Yeah, I really like that also. It's like, thats representing our lives, if we screw up big time or something comes into our lives and hurts us real bad and we don't have a strong foundation in Jesus it's gonna hurt bad! It won't just be us having a little bit of hurt and fixin it and walkin away. Its all gonna crash! But what I really like, is that its using a house for the metaphor. A house is something that can be rebuilt and fixed and even made to look better than it was before it crashed! So if we screw up or a storm comes and knocks us down, we can get up and rebuild ourselves and be closer to God than before =D
